So what am I up to?

Throughout 2019, I’m going to write a daily blog response to the daily reading in the readscripture app,

My goal is not to do deep exegesis or write a sermon, but to reflect on the story God is telling, what is happening in the story, and what it tells us about our own stories and who we are in God’s grand narrative.

In addition to the daily blogs, I’m hosting an in person discussion group about the readings the previous week at City’s Edge Community Church on Wednesdays at 7pm. If you are local to the Portland, Oregon area and this interests you, drop me an email

Finally, I intend to use this website to write book and media reviews. The Bible, while I believe it to be the most important, is not the only story that is better than you think it is.
